Husqvarna SM450RR, 2009

Husqvarna SM450RR, 2009

SM 450RR - HUSQVARNA. In 2008, Husqvarna once again showed its complete dominance of the Supermoto World Championships when Adrien Chareyre and his Husqvarna SMR 530 won two world titles.

To celebrate this success, Husqvarna has decided to present two limited-edition racing models this year, the SM 450RR and the SM 530RR. Both models will be fitted with the same racing components as the machines ridden by Adrien Chareyre, Gerald Delepine and Thomas Chareyre. Now real off-road enthusiasts can take to the track on the same machines as world champions.

The machines will have a completely new look starting from a new supermotard front mudguard and a special colour scheme to highlight their competitive, winning nature. The saddle has been specially designed to offer the rider better when accelerating.

The bikes will offer a TIG welded frame with adjustable steering head just like on the official Team Husqvarna machine as well as a shortened, black anodised swingarm to improve traction and manoeuvrability. The one-piece steering plate is made from anodised Ergal and the increased diameter steering pivot is in aluminium.

The RRs will have Alpina tubeless STS rims with a 120/70 x 16.5 tyre at the front and a Dunlop 170/55 x 17 slick at the rear. The brakes are the real news item for this year with a one-piece caliper and pump.

The SM 450 RR and SM 530 RR have "Wave" discs with a 310mm disc up front for a better compromise between adjustability and stopping power. As regards suspension - up front there are 50 mm Marzocchi forks with a sealed cartridge unit and anodised black fork bottoms while, at the rear, there is a Sachs racing aluminium-bodied shock absorber and the frame is painted black.

The more powerful "race" engine is mated to a six-speed box derived from motocross versions as are the STM slipper clutch, the electric starter, the 41 mm Keihin carburettor and the special cams and pistons. In collaboration with Arrow, Husqvarna engineers designed a tailor-made exhaust system for the SM530 RR. Like that on the SM 450 RR, it is made from titanium and features twin silencers. The heat shield is also made from titanium.

The twin-coloured anodised aluminium filler cap is new as are the anodised Ergal racing handlebar clamps. These are one-piece items bearing the legendary Husqvarna name. The motorcycles come supplied with spare sprockets and crown wheels and a set of steering rake sockets as well as a racing type side stand, racing brake and clutch levers and hand guards The machines are not homologated for use on the road and can only be ridden on a track. They will be available from early December through orders made through the Husqvarna sales network.

Husqvarna SM125, 2009

Husqvarna SM125, 2009

The SM 125 has become an icon for sixteen-year-olds, a sales phenomenon and a new fashion. It is the starting point for those who want to experience the thrills of off-roading but who also want a bike that is perfectly suited to everyday use. Easy to ride, light and manoeuvrable, the 2009 version of the SM 125 has everything it takes to become leader in its class.

The SM 125 is  in either red and white colour scheme or the more sophisticated black version. The white frame and black anodised wheel make the two-stroke look more like the bigger four-stroke version. The highly successful 125 engine has seen improvements “borrowed” from racing models and has been tuned to improve pick-up and offer more output in the low to mid range power band.

The SM 125 features integrated ECS (Electronic Carburetion System) that administers exactly the right amount of fuel (both the air/petrol and oil mix) and that was developed in collaboration with Dell’Orto. The control unit also governs the ignition system. While keeping costs under control and sales prices competitive, this brings the two-stroke 125 engine to Euro 3 standards yet keeps all the advantages that two-stroke engines offer: lightness, performance and low running costs.

As regards suspension, the SM 125 now has specially designed PaioIi forks to enhance the performance characteristics of the model and to compliment the shock absorber.

The new digital instrumentation displays speed, time, mileage, rpm and has a trip-meter as well as the normal warning lights (indicators, full beam, dipped beam, service due etc.).

Buell 1125R, 2009

Buell 1125R, 2009

The superbike category of Buell 1125R is powered by the 1125 cc liquid-cooled 72-degree V-Twin Helicon engine generating 146 crank hp and 82 ft. lbs. of peak torque. With a foundation built on the core Buell Trilogy of Technology creating optimum performance, the 1125R remains true to Buell’s original sense of sportbike style and design.
The new gear position readout is added to the digital display on the instrument panel as a scroll-to feature. A high-output alternator has increased capacity for accessory use. Slider bobbins have been added to the swingarm for protection and easy use of a rear stand.
The front wheel rides on fully adjustable Showa 47 mm upside-down forks, while the Buell ZTL2 front brake has an eight-piston caliper. A smooth-shifting six-speed transmission works with a HVA (Hydraulic Vacuum Assist) slipper-action clutch that uses engine vacuum for easy clutch-lever action and reduced engine braking during downshifts.
The Quiet Zone aerodynamics optimize air flow around the rider for enhanced race performance and rider comfort. The fairing shape was developed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis, and features six-bulb headlamps, while LED turn signals are integrated into the mirror housings.

Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4i

Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4i (2009)
The Brute Force 750 4x4i combines sport riding performance, utility capability, and the fit and finish one would expect from a flagship model–all built on an independent suspension chassis.

The perfect union of fuel injected, big-bore power and 4x4 ATV capability

The leader of Kawasaki’s V-twin powered, sport-utility all-terrain vehicle (ATV) pack, the Brute Force® 750 4x4i retains its top status for 2009 by mating a hard-charging digital fuel injected V-twin engine to the plush ride supplied by its competent front and rear fully independent suspension and superb four-wheel drive system. Wrapped in aggressive bodywork, it’s the perfect choice for adventure enthusiasts and sportsmen alike.

The Brute Force 750 4x4i is driven by a powerful 90-degree, four-stroke, fuel injected V-twin engine. The 749cc, twin Electrofusion-plated aluminum cylinders are fed via 36mm throttle bodies controlled by a 32-bit CPU, which delivers the correct mixture based on coolant temperature, air intake temperature, throttle position, air intake pressure, vehicle speed and crankshaft angle. Its high-pressure fuel pump is located inside the tank and has a unique reservoir chamber at the bottom to help ensure air does not get into the fuel system.

The Brute Force 750 4x4i gets the power from its V-twin engine to the wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with low or high range, and reverse. The rider is able to select two- or four-wheel-drive operation simply by pressing a button on the handlebar. In four-wheel-drive mode, the Brute Force ATV utilizes a limited-slip front differential, which eases steering effort under most riding conditions. The rider can also engage the handlebar mounted Variable Front Differential Control lever to manage torque delivery to the right and left front wheels for maximum traction.

The front drive shafts of the Brute Force feature Cardan joints –an industry first. Similar to U-joints, Cardan joints help absorb torque fluctuations to the drive shaft, and the lightweight design helps to reduce vibration. The small and compact rear final gear case and sealed rear braking system were designed in conjunction with the IRS and are extremely rugged and efficient.

Dual front discs and Kawasaki’s highly acclaimed sealed rear braking system bring the Brute Force 750 4x4i to a quick halt. Completely sealed, the rear braking system’s components are protected from mud, dust and debris. Its compact size also provides more ground clearance than a conventional rear disc brake system. Enhancing the highly effective braking is the engine’s Kawasaki Engine Brake Control, which helps slow the ATV under certain conditions.

Ride comfort on the Brute Force 750 4x4i doesn’t come at the expense of sport performance. Dual-rate springs for the front and rear suspension permit the best of both worlds. A soft initial spring rate for the bumps at slower speeds and a firmer second rate to handle higher speeds comes into play as the springs are further compressed. Complimenting the suspension, the urethane foam in the seat is firm enough to be supportive yet provide plenty of comfort for long hours in the saddle.

The Brute Force 750 4x4i utilizes a simple, yet sturdy double-cradle tubular steel frame with front dual A-arms and IRS. The front dual A-arms feature adjustable shocks with 6.7 inches of travel, while the IRS employs a leading torsion bar and provides 7.9 inches of travel. A combination of needle bearings and ball joints in the lower rear A-arms gives the IRS unrivaled suspension action, stability and excellent rider comfort.

As if performance wasn’t enough, the Brute Force 750 4x4i can turn heads with looks alone with its polished 12-inch wheels. Clad in aggressive tires, the eye-catching wheels help give the ATV its 9.7 inches of ground clearance and transfer the awesome power of the V-twin engine to the ground.

The 750 4x4i’s front bumper is designed for easily manhandling the Brute Force when the need arises. Behind the bumper is the strong and tough angular bodywork constructed of high-gloss and scratch-resistant Thermo-Plastic Olefin (TPO). Underneath this bodywork is a factory-installed plastic conduit for easy winch installation.

The chassis balance is further optimized by the large five-gallon fuel tank beneath the seat. Keeping the weight in check are aluminum footpegs on the full-sized floorboards and lightweight cargo racks that can carry a combined weight of 264 pounds. The capable Brute Force can also tow 1,250 pounds.

It comes standard with a hitch ball bracket –all the customer needs is a standard hitch ball. Owners can expand the versatility of the Brute Force with a variety of Authentic Kawasaki Accessories available through Kawasaki dealers.

Its upright and comfortable rider position enhances the rider’s ability to interact with the Brute Force 750 4x4i, and scan the horizon and the easy to read automotive-style instrument panel. Other features include the waterproof storage box in the left front fender, and a storage compartment in the right front fender.
